FinZ focuses on making monetary management easier for young adults by equipping them with the right tools best suited to their financial journey. The intent is to provide Gen Z a platform to learn, thus empowering them to comfortably take the first step towards managing their money.

opportunity
The upper bracket of Gen Z (born 1997-2003) is presently stepping into monetary engagement with the oldest about a few years into their first job. Both secondary and primary research indicate that as a generation, these users find it difficult to begin their financial journey. They feel extremely overwhelmed due to an overload of information especially when it comes to discerning something best suited to them. They actively seek assistance relevant to their circumstances that is secure and credible in nature.

The research insights indicated a need for a financial management service for GenZ to facilitate easier access to information without overwhelming the user.
Outcome
FinZ is a nonintrusive mobile application with different features focused on providing curated financial information. Its key features provide the user simulations of real-life monetary situations and scenarios to better prepare every user for any plan or goal that they might choose going forward.
My roles
UX Researcher, UX Designer, Business Strategist and Project Manager​
Designed the research plan, recruited and interviewed participants to gather data on financial practices and the emotions associated with the same.
Built and prototyped the wireframes for the proposed app service, and usability tested the ergonomics of the application with different users to ensure a cohesive app experience.
Ensured that the resultant service proposal conveyed the story of the target audience and identified the market spaces for the most impactful intervention.
Maintained logistics and skill allocation to better define roles according to each team member's skillsets and capabilities.
Research Insights
The research findings (primary and secondary) indicated that users face difficulty in finding money management solutions that work best for them. They also find it stressful to navigate financial services and their offerings due to the overwhelming amounts of available information.

For instance, the relocation simulator will help the user understand the different expenses associated with moving to a particular location. The investment simulator allows the user to learn the nuances of investing with fake currency in a risk-free environment, so that they feel empowered to apply these skills in a real-time investing scenario.

The current market was analyzed to understand intervention spaces, specifically amongst the offerings of different competitors. FinZ is positioned among competitors such as Mint, NerdWallet, and Acorns, whose key features are primarily goal tracking and general financial management.

The value that FinZ brings is its simplicity, both in usage as well as delivery of content. Its attention to detail ensures that the user receives quality information that is credible and curated to their specific needs.
